Last Wednesday St Peters Public School hosted the Marrickville Network finals of the Ultimo Operational Directorate Primary Schools Public Speaking competition. It was a big effort for the school and skilfully organised by Ms Iriarte. Nine schools across the area participated in four competitions for each of the stages of learning. Four students, Dylan (Kindergarten), Lilly (Stage 1), Ellena (Stage 2) and Asher (Stage 3) from St Peters competed and they all did a fine job against some very strong opposition. All were rewarded with participation certificates and Asher was chosen to be highly commended for his effort. Well done to all those who competed.
Besides the competition, one of the reasons we wanted St Peters to host this was to show off this great school. We certainly did not disappoint with complements coming from parents, other teachers and the Director Public School NSW for the Marrickville Network - Mrs Virginia Pacey. Many of our 456S class helped run the activity, time keeping, running the impromptu preparation room and welcoming guests to the school. They all did a brilliant job and we are all very proud of their efforts.
