Creative Orientation

Kindy Orientation 2018 starts this Thursday
This Thursday is the first of our Kindergarten orientation sessions for students starting next year. Students should be in the playground by 9:30am. At that point they will be taken to class and undertake a typical morning session. Year 6 students will be helping until 10:45am when students may be collected from the playground. While the children are in the sessions parents will be provided with an information session led by Mr Lavitt and including contributions from Helping Hands and the P&C.

RAW Art
RAW art is a professional art education organisation that provide high quality art and craft workshops in schools. They have a long association with the school and this year they will be returning on Tuesday for 4 weeks of workshops. There will be a note sent home tomorrow (Monday) with payment details. This year the school will be subsidising the cost of the workshops as this is an important part of your child's visual art education.

Marrickville Network Public Speaking
Last Wednesday's public speaking finals went very well and parents, teachers and students from 10 schools attended the 4 divisions. Our speakers; Marlow, Billie, Archie and Asher spoke very well and while no trophies were won, they should be very proud of their efforts. There were many compliments from parents of other schools about our lovely school. They were very impressed with our wonderful stage 3 students who helped make the competition run smoothly. Fantastic work everyone.

Did you know...?
The NSW Department of Education is the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere. This means that it has the ability to negotiate amazing deals with large companies like Microsoft, Google and Adobe.

All students within Public Schools receive free access to Office 365 including the ability to install up to 5 copies of Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac or Windows on home computers. They also have access to a free installation of Adobe Creative Cloud CC and the Elements versions of Photoshop and Premier. All this can be accessed through your child's student portal. Finally, now, all students can access Linked In's Lynda.com video training free of charge. This training is high quality business and arts training.

If you wish to know more about how to access this via your child's portal, feel free to drop Mr Lavitt and email.
