Week 10 News

  Thank You

Our 2017 school year is almost over and what an amazing year it has been. I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in this my third year as Teaching Principal of this wonderful school. We started this year with almost zero growth from 2016 with massive effects from the WestConnex development rippling through our community. Although I work at the school I cannot begin to understand what it means for those who live here through this transformation.

We are a small school and make big of this in our sales pitch to our community, but all of our staff work extremely hard to ensure that our students have all the advantages that big schools offer. Sport, creative arts, sustainability, science and technology as well as the learning of a language all feature in the opportunities this small but passionate school offers. Our children enjoy one on one access to technology and the advantages of using the most current technology tools that don't just substitute for traditional methods, they modify and redefine it.

None of this, however, could be achieved without your wonderful children. The staff and I have loved teaching them and seeing their learning grow over the last year. As they progress to next year and go up a year or leave the school we feel sure that they will continue to grow. I wish all of you a safe, happy and enjoyable summer break and I look forward to seeing many of you in 2018.

Changes

As we move into next year there are inevitable changes as staff move on to pastures new. Ms Sheridan has elected to take a second year of maternity leave and thus will not be returning to St Peters in 2018. Mr Park, Ms Garner and Ms McSpadden will all return in 2018 but Ms Charlton is moving on as she seeks new adventures in Queensland in 2018. We wish her well but welcome to the school Ms Cho who was selected through Expression of Interest from Carlingford West Public School. Additionally, Ms Iriarte will be rejoining us again for 2018. She is currently working at Punchbowl Public School. Finally, Ms Plummer will be joining us as an SLSO two days a week and Mrs Bishop returning for three days a week. Mr Lavitt will continue as Teaching Principal for his fourth year.
