A Shade of Improvement

Better Shade Coming

Thanks to the hard work of the P&C and in particular Mrs Kate Hafey, the P&C has won a grant that will be used to install a shade structure in the courtyard area close to the hall. This will provide some much needed additional shade for students in this area and also serve to provide an additional assembly place for students at the school. The next steps will be to organise the work to take place after liaising with the Departments Asset management Unit. The school wishes to thank the P&C for its hard work in this endeavour.

Air Conditioning Upgrades

The school over the summer break will receive a complete replacement of the air conditioning plant system. This replacement program is part of a large government funded program that will result in substantially improved air conditioning for the school which will be more efficient and easier to maintain. St Peters is fortunate to be in the first wave of schools to receive the upgrade.

Other Improvements

St Peters will be receiving some other improvements over the holiday period targeted at providing a better environment for students with vision impairments. These improvement will help with safety for all students and will also commence this summer. Additionally, Room 8 will once again be divided with a sound proofed wall to make way for student capacity increases.

Staff Changes

Recently we advised you of our new Assistant Principal. At the same time the school ran another merit panel for a classroom teacher to start full time in 2019. We are pleased to announce that Mr Park was successful in being offered the position and has accepted. Ptevious to this he was temporary. He will join Dr Lavitt, Dr Cooper, Mrs Iriarte, Ms McIntosh, Ms Caponas, Ms Yang and Ms Cusack in our 2019 teaching team. Ms McSpadden will be taking leave in 2019 and Ms Garner will continue in her itinerant vision support role. We are also happy to advise that Ms Sonya An will teach Korean at the school next year one day a week.
