World Autism Month

Below is a message from one of our wonderful students; Zeph.

Hi everyone. April is autism awareness month.

Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD, is a huge spectrum of different types of Autism. These differences make us all unique from each other and if you meet one person with ASD then you won't meet another like him or her. My Autism is unique to only me.

We can have hard days but also good days. My good days are when I see something differently to others and share what found out and usually surprises everyone. Unlike most people, I have to work hard to cope with ordinary everyday sensory input, that doesn't really affect most people, but If people around me know more about ASD then it can help me and others on the spectrum better cope and fit in.

Neurodiversity is really a fancy word for "differences" people have in their brains.

We are ALL different but we are all people who want to have friends and be included.

Thank you for reading. Autism, different not less! By Zeph

To celebrate the month and importantly inclusivity and diversity  we will be discussing this in class and showing a short video that Zeph kindly put together.

Cross Country Carnival Important Information

This Friday we will be holding our annual cross country carnival. Weather permitting the carnival includes all grades being involved in some running. Thank you to all parents who have volunteered for this event. Mr Park will be in touch with you to let you know what is happening as well as to ensure that we have the correct mandatory child protection documents completed from you. This requires you to complete a form and provide a copy of a drivers licence or some other form of identification equivalent to 100 points. Students are reminded that they are to bring a change of footwear and socks to the carnival as the route is often dewy and feet may get wet.

Parent Teacher Interviews

With Parent Teacher Interviews taking place on 10 April and for some parents this and next week, we want to communicate the intention of these interviews is to provide some valuable progress feedback for your child. For kindergarten parents the updated best start report will be passed onto you so highlight progress - current as of end week 9. Each parent has been provided with a 10 minutes time slot and we work to a 15 minute interval. Please keep to the time and understand that if there is anything that does require greater discussion it will be possible to make another interview time to discuss this further. All the teachers look forward to meeting you.
