ANZAC Day Service

Our ANZAC Day service is scheduled for this coming Friday. A decision has been made to move this important service to the beginning of term 2. It is customary that students in the Dingoes class bake ANZAC cookies for the event. This cannot be effectively achieved on Friday with canteen in operation. Consequently this event has thus been moved to Wednesday 2 May. Please put this in your diaries for 2pm. As part of the ceremony we will be asking students to put flowers at the base of the flagpole as a sign of respect. ANZAC Day is celebrated as a day of remembrance and teaches us the importance of peace.

Helping Hands Vacation Care

With the holidays looming, now is the time to decide and plan on events for the kids during the holidays. Our before and after school operator - Helping Hands have an extensive 10 day vacation care program where every day has a theme. Additionally there are a number of excursions where the students will go off site. The cost before rebates is $65 and what better way than to give the kids a planned day of activities, especially if you have to work. We have attached the form to the newsletter. You do have to enrol your child into Helping Hands, but this is free of charge.

Attendance

Please ensure that you advise the school on the day that your child is let us know the reason. A phone call or email to the school will suffice for this. If this is not possible, an explanation needs to be provided in writing to the school on your child's return or the absence needs to be explained in the parent portal. Any absence for sickness that is 2 days or more requires a medical certificate or where there is a large number of single day sickness days off in any 4 week period. Please remember that attendance at school is a requirement and that it is your responsibility and not your child to explain why they were absent. Teachers will follow up on non-attendance via email and letters home, addressed to the parent carer. Please respond to these quickly so we can update our rolls.

Happy Holidays

At the end of the week the school breaks for its Autumn holiday break. During this time, the school office will be closed. It will reopen on Monday 30 April for enquiries and uniform purchases. All students return on Tuesday 1 May. We all wish you a very happy holiday break.
