Find Your TREASURE - Book Week

Starting this weekend the Children’s Book Council of Australia will be celebrating Book Week for 2018. The occasion is about celebrating children’s literature and this years them is, ‘Find your TREASURE.’ Every year we celebrate this Book week by having our student’s connect with their world of books. This year we will be celebrating in two ways:

1) Students are asked to bring in a book through the week which they treasure. This special book will be used to connect with and discuss. Teachers will also be bringing in books through the week and  talking about this at morning assemblies.

2) On Wednesday 22 August, our senior year 5 and 6 students will go down to the fabulous St Peters Community Pre School and join the children there as well as any students from the Playgroup to listen to some wonderful books read to them by our year 5 and 6 students.

Our Scholastic Book fair has had to be delayed as we have not received any of the books for this at this stage. We will be looking into this during the week.

Monday Assemblies

Our Monday afternoon assemblies are now back on track for every fortnight on Monday’s starting this week. At the open day assembly both the Dingoes and the Goannas performed and so we will be starting with the Wombats this week. The schedule for the rest of Term 3 is thus:

  • Monday 20 August - Wombats
  • Monday 3 September - Echidnas
  • Monday 17 September - Koalas

We look forward to seeing you at these assemblies.

Athletics Ribbons

At this weeks assembly ribbons will be presented from last terms Athletics Carnival. The ribbons that are presented are a perfect opportunity to celebrate our peers success. Students this year will be presented ribbons based on the three fastest times run or longest lengths thrown for individual age groups. In some cases there was more than one race for an age group. All races were timed and the ribbon winners will be based on these contestant times and not their place in their individual race.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Our parent teacher interviews are held at the end of terms 1 and 3. The interviews are an opportunity to discuss progress of your child(ren) half way through semester 2. This year these will be held on Tuesday 18 September. Ten minute appointments will be held between 1pm and 6:15pm on this day and will be soon bookable via the parent portal. We will advise when this is possible this week.
