Premiers Reading Challenge

With the end of book week on Friday we all had a fabulous time sharing books that we treasure. Our Scholastic Book Fair was a hit with lots of visitors and many sales. It is now closed and will return again next year. This week is the last week of the Premiers Reading Challenge for 2018. Students in K-2 have been reading books in class over the past few months and these books have been added to your child’s Premiers Reading Challenge records. They will be validated this week. Children in years 3 to 6 have been encouraged to read their own PRC books and have entered these themselves. Over 90% of students have already completed the challenge.

Y-PEP Program

One of St Peters strategic priorities is Healthy School. A pillar of that is quality PDHPE programs that support with our greater community. The Y-PEP program is run by YWCA and focuses on sense of self, power in relationships, recognising when power is being used against oneself and protective strategies. The program is aligned to the PDHPE syllabus and constitutes our child protection for this year. There are 4 weeks of lessons starting on 5 September and then with 2 weeks facilitated by YWCA representatives. The final week is once again delivered by classroom teachers.

Stage 3 Camp

Next week students from years 5 and 6 will attend their yearly school camp. The school alternates in even and odd years between Canberra and a adventure camp. In previous years the school has attended camp with Tempe Public School but as both schools grow in numbers this has become more difficult. We have moved to change our camps to two days with one night as well as going to camp as St Peters only. This year we are going to the Outdoor Adventure camp at Morisset where students will be participating in lots of fun outdoor activities designed to build leadership and participation skills while having lots of fun.

Parent Teacher Interviews - Book Now

Our parent teacher interviews are held at the end of terms 1 and 3. This year these will be held on Tuesday 18 September. Ten minute appointments will be held between 1pm and 6:15pm on this day and will be soon bookable via the parent portal. We will advise when this is possible this week. If parents go onto the parent portal you will be able to book your parent teacher interview.
