STEM Share

The Department of Education has this year developed a concept called STEM Share. This initiative is designed to facilitate schools to stimulate the teacher of Science Technology Engineering Mathematics through kits focused on elements of Virtual Reality, Coding, Robotics and 3D printing.

This week, St Peters will be receiving a 3D printing kit that the staff will be learning how to use this week. Next term, students at St Peters will be participating in learning activities related to 3D printing.  The intention is that St Peters will use the STEM Share concept to professionally develop staff and then establish our own permanent STEM resources.

Parent Teacher Interviews

This Tuesday 18 September our teachers will be holding parent teacher interviews with all families who have booked. It is not too late to book with interview slots still being available for most class teachers. In the interviews, teachers will be discus progress this term, following on from the reports sent home at the end of last term. Any significant issues that arise from the meeting may result in additional meetings being arranged so that the issue can be fully explored. On this day we will be swapping recess and lunch to allow the 1pm start. While teachers are meeting with parents students will be moving into their peer support groups and will do some reading and fundamental movement skills activities.

Tell Them From Me

Every year the school and the NSW Government’s Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation survey parents and students within government schools. The results of these surveys are invaluable to the school and the department in providing a way of understanding the way in which parents and students feel about the school. The results can then be fed into decision making and help define how we move forward with changes. The 2018 survey is open at: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/spps

Please take the time to go to this link and fill out the survey - your voice is important.

SRC Presentation at Koalas Assembly

The SRC have been working with classes on designs for the upgrade of play areas on the school oval. Funding for this upgrade is being provided to the Department of Education Asset Management Unit by WestConnex. SRC representatives have had meetings related to the concept of a new play areas, as well as the possible associated equipment and other matters with experts. They have also worked hard with their own class teacher and classes in talking about and creating designs. Tomorrow at our whole school assembly the SRC will share progress related to this. So as to be sure that enough time is made available, we will commence our assembly 10 minutes early at 2:20pm.
