Public Speaking Grand Final

This Wednesday, St Peters Public School will once again be hosting the grand final of the Metropolitan South Operational Directorate Primary Schools Public Speaking Competition. This competition involves over 190 schools across the southern part of our metropolitan area divided into 15 network competitions. There will be 60 candidates across 4 divisions (Kindergarten, Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3) representing their school and network in a bid to become the Grand Final winner. Mr Lavitt is the Chair of the competition and has coordinated a group of educators to bring this group of talented speaker together through school and network competitions. Our Stage 3 students will be helping out on the day by compèring, time keeping, greeting guests and other actions. While the competition is running, the rest of school activities will continue with the exception of Chess which will be held in the Echidnas and Koalas classrooms and recess and lunch which will be in the main playground. The competition rooms are the School Hall and the Aora Conference Room. On this day only, our school oval will be opened for parking to allow the higher than expected volume of parking than is normally expected. We request that for this day only you consider dropping your children via the Church Street entrance. If you do use the car park, please understand that there may be more vehicles than usual. Also due to the higher expected volume of traffic, please be careful with your children’s safety in the area of the car park.

School Movie Night

This Saturday, the school’s P&C will be hosting Movie Night. The P&C run movie night every two years and proceedings start at 4pm. There are lots of fun activities for the kids to join in with and food and non alcoholic beverages will be available. Entry is free but entry to the Kids Fun Zone is $15 per child with reduced costs for Early Bird and multiple kids. The movie will start at 7:40pm as the Sun sets. Looking at the weather forecast it looks great with highs of 25 and lows of 16 Celsius. The school would like to thank the P&C and all of the volunteers who are giving up there time to make this event work. A poster and order form for kid zone bands is attached later in this newsletter.
