New students start at St Peters Public School for 2019

Parent Information Evening - 12 February

The school will be holding a parent teacher evening at 6:30pm on Monday 11 February. This will be a chance to gain valuable information from the school and collectively meet your child(ren)’s classroom teacher. We will gather in the hall for a talk from Mr Lavitt about general aspects of how the school is setup this year before going to the place where your child will learn the most, their classroom. You may use this to ask questions.

We have spoken to Helping Hands and on this evening they will have a child minding service from 6:30pm through to the close of the evening at 7:45pm. This will be for students of school age and cannot include children who do not attend the school- although they need not be enrolled in Helping Hands. All students will be given an wristband that will identify them and a contact number.

As this service is limited, it will be necessary to register your child(ren). A note with the process for completing this will be sent home tomorrow.

Canteen and Ice Blocks

As indicated earlier in the week, the P&C is in the process of finding a replacement canteen service for the school. At this stage, negotiations with suppliers is taking place witha  view to starting as soon as possible. Please stand by.

However, the P&C will be operating from this Friday an Ice Block stall which will require your child to have a small amount of money. Only one ice block will be sold per child for health reasons. If your child would like an ice block this Friday, please have them bring in a dollar.

Swimming Carnival

The school swimming carnival will be held on Wednesday 13 February. This year we were unable to book our usual venue as they would not answer our booking requests. As an alternative we have booked 4 lanes of the Annette Kellerman 50m pool. A note will be sent home to all students who turn 8 years old this year to invite them to the carnival. The note will ask for an honest assessment of their swimming ability. If they are capable of swimming a full 50m without stopping, they may race. A novelty period will be built into the event in the shallow end of the pool so that all students may have a chance to participate in some fun water games. The note will also request parent helpers for timekeepers.

Save the Date - Comedy Night 9 March

The P&C will be holding a comedy night fundraiser on the evening of Saturday 9 March. This is the inaugural Comedy for a Cause. Brace yourself for DINNER, DRINKS and ADULTS-ONLY ENTERTAINMENT as our hall plays host to family & friends of SPPS and the greater community. Grab your diaries and SAVE THE DATE: 9th March 2019 at 6.30pm. As indicated the event is not suitable for children.

School Photographs

St Peters Public School has its school photographs taken earlier in the year. This year these will occur on Wednesday 20 February. Our school photographer is local lad Martin Brady and he always does a fabulous job. Envelopes for this service will be distributed over the next few days. The envelopes require prepayment although all students photographs are taken and available for purchase later.

Scripture and Ethics

Scripture and Ethics will recommence at St Peters on Tuesday 19 February. Choices for SRE or SEE for existing students will be used from last year. If you wish your child to change please contact the school office. News families either have or will be asked for their preference.
