Week 6 News

This week the Premiers Reading Challenge opens for all students. St Peters believes strongly in all students taking part in the challenge and welcomes the opportunity for students to borrow books from the school library, the local library or also from book collections at home.

From the PRC website: 

‘The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.'

For kindergarten to year 2, PRC books are read as part of the school reading program in class and are then automatically added to the children's list by their classroom teacher. Students in years 3 to 6 will be expected to manage their own lists and they will be given time to add their books during library. These students will be expected to borrow at least one book per week from the list from the school library. The table below shows the number of books that children need to read.

All our books in the library have dots that show the level of the book. Students in years 3 and 4 are expected to borrow pink dots and above. The PRC continues until its close on 31 August. Certificates are for successful completion of the challenge are presented at the end of year presentation day.

Parent Teacher Interviews - Bookings Now Open

A reminder that this terms Parent Teacher Interviews will be on Tuesday 10 April. Appointments are now available to be booked via the parent portal. At the end of Week 3, letters were sent home to all new parents to advise how to register with the portal and add their children. A booking guide is included at the end of  this newsletter. You may use this information to book appointments. Should you have difficulty with this, please contact the school office.
