Week 6 News

Chess - Additional Opportunities to Play

Chess was a great success on Wednesday with nearly 34% of the school participating in chess. Two teachers from Sydney Chess Academy attended the event and the group was split into a couple of groups based on their familiarity with the game.

On Tuesday and Thursday next week students at the beginning of school from 8:30am to 9:00am will be given an opportunity to play chess in the Dingoes classroom off the main playground.

Spell-a-thon Fundraiser REMINDER

Our Spell a thon fundraiser is now underway. Sporsorship forms are now with children and we encourage you to use the time until the end of the week when the forms are due back to gain more sponsors.

A reminder that a prize of a $50 gift card will be awarded to any student who enters the spell-a-thon and raises over $1 in sponsorship money. The draw will be on Presentation Day 14 December. Students will have word lists at their level and they will be given opportunities to work with them in class.

Mandarin Craft Incursion

Miss Yang has organised for all students to be given an opportunity to experience some and on Chinese cultural experiences. She has organised Mandarin Handicrafts to come in a teach the children about how to make Chinese Knots. These are lucky symbols in China. A note will go home this coming week.

End of Year Activities

We have a number of activities planned for the end of the 2017 year. After the success of the fun day at the end of last year we have decided to repeat the fun day and have a range of activities planned for the last Monday of term - Monday 11 December. On the same day, year 6 will be going to the city for a trip to Sea Life, Wild Life and Madame Tussauds. After our Presentation Day, our year 5 and 6 students will be attending the annual year 6 farewell at Yiamas Greek Restaurant in St Peters. Finally on the final day the P&C will be running a disco between 1pm and 2:30pm before our annual year 6 arch.

Library

Our library borrowing program has now finished for the year and we will be expecting books now to be returned over the coming 2 weeks. This is so that a stock take of books in the school library can be undertaken.
