Welcome Back!
We’re all very happy to be starting our second term at St Peters Public School tomorrow morning. For those in Sydney it has been a wonderful holiday full of beautiful sunny weather and we hope that in some way or another you were able to take advantage of it to relax with your children and or other friends or family.
ANZAC Day - Remembrance Assembly
This Wednesday 1 May, we will holding our small but respectful ANZAC Day remembrance service. All students will attend and will be offered the opprtunity to bring in flowers that they may lay at the food of our flagpole. The service will be held at 2pm in the main playgroud and led by year 6. Our community is welcome to come along and pay your respects. The service will conclude by 2:40pm.
Oval Play Area Upgrade
Thank you to all parents invited to our focus group who came along to provide some ideas and discussion points for the Oval play area upgrade. The ideas from this have been combined with those of the students and teachers and a meeting was held with Assets Management Unit to develop and budget. At this stage the ideas included are: removal of concrete pitches, shade structure over play equipment and new open learning/sitting space; continuation of path to Siver Street lane; new paved play area for handball and basketball; storage for play equipment; a 1.5m fence around the car park; and, a review of current play equipment; development of other play equipment stations such as logs, tubes as the budget allows. The initial idea of fencing an area was rejected by parents as this would prevent the future development of the oval. It is intended that the additional facility from this work could be added to by future school funded and P&C funded projects. Common to all groups was a desire to improve safety, play opportunities, access and seating.
Chess - Renew for Term 2 Now
It is that time again to renew your child(ren)’s chess club for term 2. On Wednesday we will assume all students from last term are continuing with chess and send them along. If you haven’t paid, please do so. All payments as always are made to Sydney Chess Academy. The enrolment form is included at the end of this newsletter. If you do not wish your child to continue with chess, please let us know and we will remove your child from the list. Likewise, if you would like your child to start chess and you are in year 1 to 6, simply enrol, pay and let us know to add them to the list.
