EPSA e-waste Recycling
The school is partnering with EPSA to provide an e-waste drop off bin at the school. From their website, “EPSA is wholly owned by Sims Group Limited, a company that has been operating in the recycling industry for over 100 years globally. Sims operates in 30 countries, with more than 250 facilities around the globe.” We are starting small with a 660L bin which will be located next to the main waste bin in the car park. The bin is designed for e-waste such as electronics, computers. You can drop off these devices in the bin and should we fill the bin, we can get another one to replace it. The school plans to use the bin for its own e-waste and invites its community to use it as well. The bin will be available from this Wednesday.
Book Week
From the 19th to the 23rd of August the school will celebrate Book Week. We will be doing this through a week focus on the Children’s Book Council Award winning books, the Scholastic Book Fair and an incursion called Pick a Peck of Pickled Poems. The incursion will be held on the Friday and there will be a small fee which will be detailed in a payment note to be sent home on Monday.
Busy Dingoes!
These next two days, the Dingoes will be very busy as they will be travelling to the city tomorrow with Ms Caponas for the Cantabile Concert at the Opera House culminating in a performance as part of the mass choir in the evening. Then on Tuesday they will be travelling with Ms Cusack to Macquarie Street and a tour of the NSW Parliament. There they will see both the upper and lower houses and hopefully meet our local member for the constituency of Heffron - Mr Ron Hoenig.
Courtyard Shade Structure
Following the winning of a business community grant through Ron Hoenig, the P&C are happy to report that they have finally got the go ahead for the shade structure for the courtyard area near the hall. This will provide some much needed sun shade relief in summer and is scheduled to be installed at the end of the term.
Oval Upgrade Update
The school has now commissioned landscape architecture company Urban Landscape Projects to provide a landscape plan for the oval upgrade to facility. This will form the basis of the tender process for construction and includes the contribution from students and parents.
